15,000. That’s the average number of Americans diagnosed with glioblastoma each year.

Glioblastoma is the most aggressive and most common form of brain cancer -- it makes up 51% of all primary malignant brain tumor cases in adults. It's also the most under-funded and therefor, under-researched.

Despite being first identified in scientific research in the 1920s, there are only four FDA- approved drugs to treat Glioblastoma. Four. In 100 years! For Glioblastoma, the five-year relative survival rate is only 7.2%, and the median survival is only 8 months after progression.

Few research studies are conducted in aggressive brain cancers because the outcomes are so poor; yet the outcomes remain poor because so few research studies exist. Our goal since the inception of KMF: to end this infinite loop.

Every day, countless lives are turned upside down by the challenging diagnosis of glioblastoma. It’s a battle that affects not just the patient but their entire circle of loved ones, testing the limits of strength and resilience. Families stand by as their loved ones undergo challenging treatments, each day bringing its own set of uncertainties. Yet, amidst this darkness, there is a glimmer of hope fueled by the unwavering dedication of researchers, doctors, and advocates who refuse to give up.

The Knox Martin Foundation is here to help them.

Our mission is to fund innovative research on aggressive brain cancers to give patients a shot at a longer life. Our vision is a world where a GBM diagnosis is treatable and curable. We work directly with medical research partners at the Preston Robert Tisch Brain Tumor Center at Duke to fund innovative research for clinical trials and life saving treatments.

Since KMF’s inception in 2021, we’ve donated a total of $1,100,000 to our partners at the Duke Brain Tumor Center. Our donations have funded the research & development of 3 FDA-approved clinical trials for patients fighting glioblastoma and high-grade glioma. There are over 30 current brain cancer patients enrolled in KMF funded clinical trials between the brain tumor centers at Duke, NYU, UCSD, and Stanford.

Every dollar raised, every social media post shared, and every conversation started brings us one step closer to breakthroughs that can change the course of this relentless disease. We raise funds for innovative brain cancer research because we know that with enough funding, support, and relentless effort, a cure is well within our reach. We know that with the help of our beloved donors, partners, community members, and friends, we can give someone else’s Knox a shot at a much longer life. Thank you for being here.
